Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro, another major shopping center is dominated by the giant Seibu and Tobu department stores. This is an area of smart showrooms and a masslve skyscraper that was once the highest building in Japan. Office workers, students and shoppers from the suburbs mingle to create an everyone-friendly atmosphere. Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space to the west of the station presents concerts and theatrical performances and boasts remarkable escalators.
