    Green I RIDE buses

    by IloveFL Updated Apr 4, 2011 5 reviews
    If staying on International drive and have not got a car this is probably the best mode of transport to get up and down the whole length of I drive. It can get busy in evening (especially going north from seaworld when that closes) and at weekends so don't expect to find a seat each time you use this service. They do run frequently every 15mins or so throughout the day (apart from sundays every 30mins) and run from early morning til midnight.

    Prices - Please be aware that no change is given and not many take $1 bills (best way to get rid of change.)

    $ 1.25 for one single trip
    $ for 3 day pass*
    $ for 7 day pass*
    $ for 14 days*

    *will be updated within 3 weeks

    Most hotel information desks will sell multi day pass vouchers that you can exchange on your first trip on the route, tell the driver what pass you've paid for and hand the voucher over exchanging for a valid multi day pass, which you'll just swipe everytime you use the service, but do check the number of days it's valid for on ticket on exchange because some drivers sometimes do try and pull a fast one and rip you off. But most of them are genuinely pleasent and quite funny if they get talking on the microphone.

    Stops are clearly marked from numbers 1 -49 and on most of the buses (or as i call them little huts on wheels) they have route maps on board which are always worth picking up for the money off vouchers that are inside.

    List of all the main important stops will be updated in due course.

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness
    If you've not got a car don't be frightened to use this public transport system.
    The main bus station is situated in Downtown Orlando and has a numerous number of services travelling to all the different counties in Orlando. All the bus stops have a distinctive sign of a paw print and the number bus services which stop there and are cheap and fun as some services provide tv screens wiv puzzles and latest news. Here are a few of the services that may come in handy if staying on International Drive:-

    No.8 Lnyx Central (Downtown Orlando)- International Drive - Orlando Premium Outlets - International Drive - Lynx Central (Downtown Orlando).
    No. 42 Orlando Premium Outlets - International Drive - Orlando International Airport
    No. 50 I RIDE to stop No 38 (one stop before seaworld) cross the road to other bus stop opposite side then No. 50 to WDW Ticketing and Transport Center (Magic Kingdom ferryboat entrance)
    Please note though that if visiting Magic Kingdom and staying for themed fireworks at end of evening please be aware that you may miss the last service back to Sea Harbour Drive (stop 38) near seaworld and will to rely on a cab to get back to I Drive.

    Prices: To be updated shortly

    Exploring Orlando

    by GK2005 Updated Apr 4, 2011 95 reviews
    Like most of the US cities, Orlando also doesnt have a good public transportation network and so a car is a must to explore this city. The car rentals are very cheap in Orlando and there are many car rental agencies in the Orlando Intl airport. Avis, Hertz and other major car rentals have outlets at the airport. For the best rate in Orlando, try Alamo as its a bit outside of the airport, conveniently served by many free shuttles. Because the Lot is outside the airport, you can also avoid paying the airport tax on car rentals from Alamo.

    Orlando city buses

    by Suzanne123 Written May 5, 2010 161 reviews
    Orlando city transportation is HORRIBLE. There are two areas where you will want to be 1. International drive (Sea World & Univeral Studios) and 2. Disney. They are located close together, but the transit will take you a couple hours each way with transfers.

    It is better to use the I-hop trolley's for international drive.

    There are buses from the airport to Disney before 10 pm. They take an hour even tho it is not far.

  • Shuttle from Orlando to Port Canaveral

    I usually recommend Cocoa Beach Shuttle for shuttle from Orlando to Port Canaveral. I used them quite a bit when I ran a hotel near Port Canaveral. http://www.portcanaveralhotelsinsider.com/port-canaveral-cruise-shuttle-service.html

    Again when you're staying at an on-site resort you have access to Disney's free shuttle service that offers transportation between your hotel and all of the theme parks, water parks and Downtown Disney area. We never had to wait more than 10 minutes to get on a shuttle, no matter what time of the day or evening it was. Even after the big night shows, when all the guests are exiting at the same time, they make sure that more shuttles are available so you don't have to wait too long. Indications are always very clear so finding the right shuttle is never a problem. It's just another thing that makes travelling to Walt Disney World such a hassle-free vacation!

    On the Disney Magical Express

    One of the cool things about staying at an on-site resort at Walt Disney World is that free transportation is provided between the Orlando airport and your hotel. When you book a room at one of the resorts, you can go online and book transportation on board the Disney Magical Express. We quickly received by mail all the information we needed to take advantage of this free shuttle service. They can even take care of your luggage for you, but we just thought it was easier to carry our suitcases to the shuttle ourselves. On the way over to our resort we were treated to a short video that highlighted everything there was to see and do at Walt Disney World, it sure was a great way to put us in the right mood!

    When it came time to leave, there was a notice delivered to our room the day before to let us know at which time we would be boarding the shuttle for our trip back to the airport. They arranged it so that we got there 3 hours before our flight, which gave us plenty of time to find our way around the airport. During the ride, our driver entertained us with some trivia about Walt Disney World (number of visitors, number of employees, etc.), and gave us all the information we needed about where to check-in and drop off our luggage. It's got to be the most practical way of travelling to and from the Orlando airport!

    Disney Transport Shuttles

    I think this is a great bonus for staying on a Disney Resort. You are provided with shuttle buses to all the theme parks, the marketplace and pleasure island. There is no need to rent a car which is one less expense. The buses are on a schedule and are very efficient. The bus drivers are friendly and you feel safe.
