Khao San Road from airport to phayathai

Getting to Khao San Road from new airport
Hi all

Been a number of years since last visited Bangkok, and will be flying in around late afternoon. Understand the new Air Rail Link is now running and I can change @ Makassan for MRT. Won't have much luggage, but wonder if the MRT now goes to Khao San Road, or will I have to take a bus. Is it just easier to take airport express bus?

Also, can I buy MRT passes / tickets @ the airport? Will only be in BKK for a couple of days and wonder what best options for public transport are,

Thanks for any replies

No, the MRT does n't go anywhere near KSR.
The easiest option is either the airport bus or a taxi direct to KSR from the airport, depending on which is more important to you ...cheaper or quicker ?
or you could take the ARL to Phayathai station and grab a cab from there.
No, you cannot get MRT passes at the airport, and if you are staying in KSR your public transport options are limited to buses, taxis and the river ferry, as it is nowhere near BTS (skytrain) or MRT (metro) routes.

Considering you are only there for two days and you have just taken a long flight the extra 9 aussie dollar cost of a taxi over the airport express bus is a no brainer?

I think above has a point to remember.

We pay $1000 + to fly half way around the planet, arrive tired and possibly disjointed in some way, and are then concerned about spending 10 bucks on a taxi that will be air-con, and drop us off right where we want.

On Monkey Boy Studio, three Scandanavian girls tell how they are budget conscious, and caught the bus for 150bt each. Split a taxi for 450bt, and life is far more simple.

Considering that taking a meter taxi from the airport to KSR costs no more than 370-400 baht all in, including airport surcharge and highway tolls, and it really is no brainer.

If you're overly concerned about budget, and are travelling alone, hang around near the taxi queue until you find some other backpackers who want to split the fare to KSR. I doubt you'll have to wait long, in fact you may even meet them on the plane.

you can take the airport link to phayathai and from there a taxi to khao san, works cheaper then the airport bus. enjoy your trip.
