My biggest regret is to take the Metro train to Tokyo Disneyland instead of by JR Highway bus. I thought the Metro ride from Shinjuku station to Tokyo station is about 20 min and another 13 min from Tokyo station to Maihama station where Disneyland is located seem fine. But to my horrify, Tokyo station was very big!!! It took us half an hour to walk from the JR Chou platform to JR Keiyo platform.
RecipeMummy Travel Guide: From Shinjuku station take JR Chuo Line (Rapid) to Tokyo station. Then from Tokyo station take JR Keiyo Line to Maihama. The journey on train is 43 min and another 30 min for walking. Fare 400 yen.
Finally, after an hours plus journery we have reached Disneyland!
We caught sight of a Mickey Mouse train! This train only operates around the resort, for you to travel between Tokyo Disneyland, Disney Sea and the hotels.
Next, the Castle! My daughters were very excited to see it. It likes a dream come true for them, to see a huge castle right in front of them.
Jubilation! This is a day time parade which show case characters such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pooh Bear, Donald Duck, Daisy and Toy Story. The show time vary daily so remember to checkout the show time. You can refer to their official website http://www.tokyodisneyresort.co.jp/index_e.html for the timing.
One interesting sight about Tokyo Disneyland is you will get to see people (mostly Japanese) camping around the road side half or an hour before the start of the parade. They seem very experiance to me, even had floor mat with them. Thus, not to worry even if you do not know the parade time or the route because as long as you see people start to camp, it means parade show starting!
Next, we head for ToonTown where all the house of the Disney characters are located. Here you get to see Mickey Mouse's house, Minnie Mouse's house, Donald's boat, Goofy's bounce house and etc. The Mickey Mouse's house is the most popular attraction here as you get to meet Mickey and has a photo session with him but the queue is horrible! We queued one and half hour!
The Pooh's Hunny Hunt is the best ride in the whole Tokyo Disneyland!
RecipeMummy Tips: FASSPASS ride is available for this, so get the fasspass first thing in the morning. The normal queuing time for this ride is also one and half hour!
Lunctime!!! I saw a Japanese kid carrying a very cute Minnie lunch box while we are queuing for the Mickey Mouse's house. I summon up my courage and approached her parent to ask where I can get it. I'm very lucky that her daddy can speak English and gave me direction to the Huey, Dewey and Louie's Good Time cafe which is near to the Mickey Mouse's house. The food not only look good and cute, it tastes delicious too! Yummy! Yummy! But is expensive around SGD 27 for a burger or pizza, a packet of french flies, a drink and the lunch box. The burger and pizza only cost around SGD 7.50 individual which I find value for money.
Next, we went to the Fantasyland. Snow white's adventures is a waste of time. The snow white only appears once thoughout the ride.
RecipeMummy Tips: Skip Snow White's adventures and go for the It's a small world ride instead.
For the "It's a small world ride", you get to cruise around and surround by small figures of children from around the world singing and dancing.
Lastly, not to miss the Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights.
Finally, it is time to head back to hotel. I have already learned my lesson so no more train ride back. We took the JR Highway bus from the bus terminal located near to the Tokyo Disneyland. Although it costs us double the fare as compare to train but it sent us directly back to Shinjuku in less than an hour time. After a whole day of excitment, queuing, standing and walking, the bus journey seem extremely comfortable to us.
RecipeMummy Travel Guide: To go back Shinjuku, take the JR Highway bus at the Tokyo Disneyland bus stop no. 2. Fare is 800 yen for adult and 400 yen for schooling child. Since my kids have not reach schooling age, we did not purchase the bus ticket for them but the bus was half empty so they still get a seat. :D
