CENTRAL TOKYO
1. TSUKIJI FISH MARKET
Tsukiji Market is just above Tsukiji Shijo Station on the Oedo Subway Line. Alternatively, it can be reached in a five minute walk from Tsukiji Station on the Hibiya Subway Line. The closest JR station is Shimbashi, from where you can walk to the market in about 15 minutes.
From Tokyo Station
Take the Marunouchi Subway Line from Tokyo to Ginza (3 minutes) and transfer to the Hibiya Subway Line to get to Tsukiji Station (3 minutes). The fare is 160 yen.
From Shinjuku Station
Take the Oedo Subway Line directly from Shinjuku Station to Tsukiji Shijo Station. The one way trip takes 20 minutes and costs 260 yen.

2. AKIBAHARA
Akihabara Station is a busy station served by the JR Yamanote Line, JR Keihin-Tohoku Line, JR Sobu Line, the Tsukuba Express and the Hibiya Subway Line. Suehirocho Station on the Ginza Subway Line is located around the northern end of the district.
From Tokyo Station
Akihabara is two stations north of Tokyo Station by JR Yamanote or Keihin-Tohoku Line. The trip takes about three minutes and costs 130 yen. During weekday daytime, the Keihin-Tohoku Line skips the station between Tokyo and Akihabara, which shaves off a few more seconds from the travel time.
From Shinjuku Station
Take the JR Chuo Line (orange colored rapid service) from Shinjuku to Ochanomizu Station (10 minutes) and make a quick and easy transfer to the JR Sobu Line (yellow colored local service) for one more station to Akihabara (2 minutes). Alternatively, take a yellow colored train without transfer all the way from Shinjuku to Akihabara (17 minutes). The one way fare is 160 yen in either case.
3. KOISHIKAWA KORAKUEN
Koishikawa Korakuen is a 5-10 minute walk from Iidabashi Station (various JR and subway lines) or a 10 minute walk from Korakuen Station on the Marunouchi and Nanboku Subway Lines.

4. IMPERIAL PALACE
The Imperial Palace is a 10 minute walk from Tokyo Station.
5. HAMA RIKYU
Hama Rikyu can be accessed by Tokyo Water Bus from Asakusa and Odaiba. Alternatively, it is a 10-15 minute walk from JR Shimbashi Station or Shiodome Station on the Oedo Subway Line and Yurikamome elevated train.
6. IMPERIAL PALACE EAST GARDEN
The Otemon entrance to the East Gardens is a short walk from Otemachi Station on the Chiyoda, Tozai, Marunouchi, Hanzomon and Mita Subway Lines. It can also be reached in a 10-15 minute walk from Tokyo Station.
Hours: 9:00 to 16:30 (until 17:00 from mid April through August; until 16:00 from November through February). Entry possible until 30 minutes before closing.
Closed: Mondays, Fridays, New Year (Dec 28 to Jan 3) and some special occasions. If Monday or Friday is a national holiday, the gardens are closed on the following day instead.

7. GINZA
The most convenient stations for accessing the Ginza district are Ginza Station on the Hibiya, Marunouchi and Ginza Subway Lines and Yurakucho Station on the JR Yamanote Line, JR Keihin-Tohoku Line and Yurakucho Subway Line.
8. TOKYO DOME CITY
Tokyo Dome City is best accessed from Suidobashi Station on the JR Chuo Line (only the yellow local trains stop here) or from Korakuen Station (served by the Marunouchi and Namboku Subway Lines) or the adjacent Kasuga Station (served by the Oedo and Mita Subway Lines).
From Tokyo Station:
8 minutes and 160 yen by Marunouchi Subway Line or 10 minutes and 150 yen by JR Chuo Line with a transfer from the orange rapid service to the yellow local service at Ochanomizu Station.
From Shinjuku Station:
15 minutes and 160 yen by yellow JR Chuo Line or 12 minutes and 210 yen by Oedo Subway Line from Shinjuku Nishiguchi Station.
9. YASUKUNI SHRINE
Yasukuni Shrine is located a short walk from Kudanshita Station on the Hanzomon, Tozai and Shinjuku Subway Lines.
From Tokyo Station
Take the Marunouchi Subway Line from Tokyo Station to Otemachi (1 minute) and then the Hanzomon Subway Line to Kudanshita Station (4 minutes). The one way fare is 160 yen.
From Shinjuku Station
Take the Shinjuku Subway Line directly from Shinjuku to Kudanshita Station. The one way trip takes 8 minutes and costs 210 yen.
Yasukuni Shrine
Hours: 6:00 to 18:00 (to 19:00 from May to Aug; to 17:00 from Nov to Feb)

10. TSUKISHIMA
Tsukishima Station is served by the Oedo and Yurakucho Subway Lines.
From Tokyo Station:
Take the JR Yamanote Line from Tokyo Station to Yurakucho (2 minutes, 130 yen) and transfer to the Yurakucho Line for Tsukishima Station (5 minutes, 160 yen).
From Shinjuku Station:
Take the Oedo Subway Line from Shinjuku in direction of Roppongi directly to Tsukishima. The one way journey takes 25 minutes and costs 260 yen.
11. NIHONBASHI
Nihonbashi Station on the Ginza, Tozai and Asakusa Subway Lines or Mitsukoshimae Station on the Hanzomon and Ginza Subway Lines bring you into the very center of the Nihonbashi district. Nihonbashi can also be accessed in a 5-10 minute walk from the Nihonbashi Exit of Tokyo Station.
12. MARUNOUCHI
Marunouchi is located on the west side of Tokyo Station, which is served by several shinkansen lines, the JR Yamanote Line and various other urban and suburban train and subway lines. Nearby is Otemachi Station, which is served by five subway lines.
WESTERN TOKYO
1. SHIBUYA
Shibuya Station is one of Tokyo’s busiest stations. It is served by the JR Yamanote Line, JR Saikyo Line, JR Shonan Shinjuku Line, Hanzomon Subway Line, Ginza Subway Line, Fukutoshin Subway Line, Tokyu Toyoko Line, Tokyu Den-Entoshi Line, Keio Inokashira Line and the Narita Express.
2. SHINJUKU
Shinjuku Station is Japan’s busiest railway station, served by about a dozen railway lines, including the JR Yamanote Line.
From Tokyo Station
The frequently departing, orange trains on the JR Chuo Line (Rapid Service) take less than 15 minutes and cost 190 yen from Tokyo Station to Shinjuku Station.
From Ueno Station
By JR Yamanote Line it takes 25 minutes and costs 190 yen to get from Ueno to Shinjuku. A slightly faster alternative is to take the JR Yamanote or JR Keihin-Tohoku Line from Ueno to Kanda Station, and then the JR Chuo Line from Kanda to Shinjuku.
3. HARAJUKU
Harajuku Station is a station on the JR Yamanote Line, two stations south of Shinjuku and one station north of Shibuya (130 yen from either station).
Only a short walk from Harajuku Station is the subway station Meijijingu-mae Station, which is served by the Chiyoda and Fukutoshin Subway Lines. At the eastern end of Omotesando is Omotesando Station, which is served by the Chiyoda, Ginza and Hanzomon Subway Lines.
4. MEIJI SHRINE
The approach to Meiji Shrine starts a few steps from Harajuku Station on the JR Yamanote Line or Meiji-jingu-mae Station on the Chiyoda and Fukutoshin Subway Lines.

5. SHINJUKU GYOEN
Shinjuku Gyoen has three gates:
Shinjuku Gate is a 10 minute walk east from the “New South Exit” of JR Shinjuku Station, while Sendagaya Gate is a 5 minute walk from JR Sendagaya Station on the local Chuo/Sobu Line. Shinjukugyoenmae Station on the Marunouchi Subway Line, at last, is a short walk from either the Okido or Shinjuku Gate.

Closed: Mondays, (Tuesday if Monday is a national holiday) and from December 29 to January 3. There are no closure days during either the cherry blossom season (late March to late April), or the Chrysanthemum Exhibition (first half of November).

6. YOYOGI KOEN
Yoyogi Park is a 5 minute walk from Harajuku Station on the JR Yamanote Line. It is located next to Meiji Shrine.

7. YEBISU GARDEN PLACE
Yebisu Garden Place is a 5 minute walk from Ebisu Station, one station south of Shibuya Station on the JR Yamanote Line or JR Saikyo Line. It is connected with the station by the well marked “Yebisu Skywalk”.
NORTHERN TOKYO
1. ASAKUSA
Asakusa is served by the Ginza Subway Line, Asakusa Subway Line, Tsukuba Express and Tobu Railways. It can also be accessed by Tokyo Water Bus.
From Tokyo Station
Take the JR Yamanote Line to Kanda Station (2 minutes, 130 Yen) and transfer to the Ginza Subway Line for Asakusa (10 minutes, 160 Yen).
From Shinjuku Station
Take the orange JR Chuo Line to Kanda Station (10 minutes, 160 Yen) and transfer to the Ginza Subway Line for Asakusa (10 minutes, 160 Yen).
2. SENSOJI TEMPLE
Sensoji Temple is a few steps from Asakusa Station, served by the Ginza Subway Line, Asakusa Subway Line and Tobu Railways.
From Tokyo Station
Take the JR Yamanote Line to Kanda Station (2 minutes, 130 yen) and transfer to the Ginza Subway Line for Asakusa (10 minutes, 160 yen).
From Shinjuku Station
Take the orange JR Chuo Line to Kanda Station (10 minutes, 160 yen) and transfer to the Ginza Subway Line for Asakusa (10 minutes, 160 yen).

3. RIKUGIEN GARDEN
The Someimon Gate of Rikugien is a few steps south of Komagome Station on the JR Yamanote Line or Namboku Subway Line.

4. UENO PARK
Ueno Park is just next to JR Ueno Station. Easiest access is provided by the station’s “Park Exit”.
5. KOISHIKAWA BOTANICAL GARDEN
Koishikawa Botanical Garden is a 10-15 minute walk from either Myogadani Station on the Marunouchi Subway Line or Hakusan Station on the Mita Subway Line.

6. AMEYOKO
The shopping street runs from Ueno to Okachimachi Station along the train tracks of the JR Yamanote or JR Keihin-Tohoku Line.
7. KAPPABASHI STREET
The closest station is Tawaramachi Station on the Subway Ginza Line.

8. IKEBUKURO
Ikebukuro Station is a major station on the JR Yamanote Line. It is also served by the JR Saikyo Line, JR Shonan Shinjuku Line, Tobu Tojo Line, Seibu Ikebukuro Line and the Marunouchi, Yurakucho and Fukutoshin Subway Lines.
From Tokyo Station:
15 minutes and 190 yen by the Marunouchi Subway Line or 25 minutes and 190 yen by the JR Yamanote Line.
From Shinjuku Station:
8 minutes and 150 yen by the JR Yamanote, Saikyo or Shonan Shinjuku Lines.
9. RYOGOKU
Take the JR Sobu Line or Subway Oedo Line to Ryogoku Station.
SOUTHERN TOKYO
1. INSTITUTE FOR NATURE
The park can be reached in a 10 minute walk from Meguro Station on the JR Yamanote Line, Nanboku Subway Line (Tokyo Metro) and Mita Subway Line (Toei).

2. ODAIBA
Access to Odaiba can be an attraction in itself, as the views of the Rainbow Bridge and Tokyo’s harbor and waterfront area from the Yurikamome elevated train and boats are quite spectacular. Furthermore, it is also possible to walk across the Rainbow Bridge.
By Yurikamome
The Yurikamome is an automated, elevated train with rubber tires, which connects Shimbashi Station on the JR Yamanote Line with all of Odaiba’s attractions and Toyosu Station on the Yurakucho Subway Line. Trains depart every few minutes, and a ride between Shimbashi and Daiba Station takes 15 minutes and costs 310 yen. If you ride the Yurikamome more than twice, a one day pass for 800 yen is likely to cost less than regular fares.
The Yurikamome crosses the Rainbow Bridge to get to Odaiba and offers spectacular views of the harbor and the Tokyo waterfront. Sit or stand at the very front of the train for the most impressive views.
By Rinkai Line
The Rinkai Line connects Osaki Station on the JR Yamanote Line with Shin-Kiba Station on the JR Keiyo Line, stopping at the Tokyo Teleport and Kokusai Tenjijo underground stations on Odaiba along the way. Some trains on the JR Saikyo Line continue to run on the Rinkai Line and provide direct connections between Shinjuku, Shibuya and Odaiba.
The ride from Shinjuku to Tokyo Teleport Station on Odaiba takes 25 minutes and costs 480 yen. Note that the Japan Rail Pass, Seishun 18 Kippu and similar JR tickets are not valid on the Rinkai Line between Osaki and Shin-Kiba, even though the line is served by JR trains.
By Boat
Tokyo Water Bus operates boats between Odaiba Seaside Park and Hinode Pier (20 minutes, 460 yen, 1-2 boats per hour), where there are connections to Asakusa. Direct boats connect Asakusa and Odaiba less frequently (50 minutes, 1520 yen). Furthermore, there are boats from Hinode Pier to Palette Town and Tokyo Big Sight (25-35 minutes, 400 yen, one boat per hour except Mondays and Tuesdays).
On Foot
It is possible to cross the Rainbow Bridge on foot. The walk across takes about 30-45 minutes and offers nice views of the waterfront area. The pedestrian path begins a short walk from Shibaura-futo Station along the Yurikamome on the “Tokyo side” of the bridge, while Odaiba Kaihinkoen Station is the nearest station on the “Odaiba side”. Bicycles are not allowed.
Note that the pedestrian walkways gets closed during the night (21:00 to 9:00 from April to October, 18:00 to 10:00 from November to March), on the third Monday of every month, from December 29 to 31, during the Tokyo Bay Fireworks Display and during bad weather.
3. ROPPONGI HILLS
oppongi Hills is about a five minute walk from the Hibiya Line platform of Roppongi Station and a ten minute walk from the Oedo Line platform of Roppongi Station.
From Tokyo Station:
15 minutes, 160 yen by Marunouchi and Hibiya Subway Lines via Kasumigaseki Station.
From Shinjuku Station:
10 minutes, 210 yen by direct Oedo Subway Line.
4. ROPPONGI
Roppongi can be reached by the Hibiya and Oedo Subway Lines (Roppongi Station) and the Nanboku Subway Line (Roppongi-Icchome Station).
From Tokyo Station:
15 minutes, 160 yen by Marunouchi and Hibiya Subway Lines via Kasumigaseki Station.
From Shinjuku Station:
10 minutes, 210 yen by direct Oedo Subway Line.
5. TOKYO WATER BUS
Asakusa Pier
The pier is located along the Sumida River, just beside the Asakusa Stations of the Ginza Subway Line and the Tobu Line or a five minute walk from Asakusa Station on the Asakusa Subway Line. More detailed access information can be found on the Asakusa page.
Odaiba Pier
The pier is located just in front of the Aquacity Odaiba shopping mall, about a five minute walk from either Daiba Station or Odaiba-Kaihinkoen Station on the Yurikamome Line. More detailed access information can be found on the Odaiba page.
Hinode Pier
The pier is a five minute walk north from Hinode Station on the Yurikamome Line, which can be accessed from Shimbashi Station (5 minutes, 240 yen, along the JR Yamanote Line).
Hama Rikyu Pier
The pier is located within Hama Rikyu garden, so the entrance fee (300 yen) must be paid to access the water buses from here. More detailed access information can be found on the Hama Rikyu page.
6. ZOJOJI TEMPLE
The closest subway stations are Onarimon or Shibakoen Station on the Mita Subway Line and Daimon Station on the Oedo Subway Line. The temple can also be reached in a ten minute walk from Hamamatsucho Station on the JR Yamanote and JR Keihin-Tohoku Line.
7. TOKYO TOWER
The closest subway stations to Tokyo Tower are Onarimon Station on the Mita Subway Line and Akabanebashi Station on the Oedo Subway Line. You can also walk there from Hamamatsucho Station on the JR Yamanote and JR Keihin-Tohoku Line in about 15 minutes.

8. SENGAKUJI TEMPLE
The temple is a few steps from Sengakuji Station on the Toei Asakusa Subway Line. Alternatively, you can walk there from either Shinagawa or Tamachi Station on the JR Yamanote Line in about 15-20 minutes
Hours: 7:00 to 18:00 (to 17:00 from October to March).
The memorial museum is open from 9:00 to 16:00.

9. KYU SHIBA RIKYU GARDEN
Kyu Shiba Rikyu Garden is located next to Hamamatsucho Station, five minutes south of Tokyo Station by JR Yamanote Line. It can also be reached in a short walk from Daimon Subway Station (Oedo and Asakusa Subway Lines).

10. TOKYO MIDTOWN
Tokyo Midtown is directly connected with Roppongi Station on the Oedo Subway Line. The platforms of the Hibiya Subway Line are a 5-10 minute walk away.

15 minutes, 160 yen by Marunouchi and Hibiya Subway Lines via Kasumigaseki Station.
From Shinjuku Station:
10 minutes, 210 yen by direct Oedo Subway Line.
11. AKASAKA SACAS
From Tokyo Station
Take the Marunouchi Subway Line to Kokkaigijido-mae Station (7 minutes) and transfer to the Chiyoda Subway Line for Akasaka (2 minutes). The one way fare is 160 Yen.
From Shinjuku Station
Take the Marunouchi Subway Line to Kokkaigijido-mae Station (12 minutes) and transfer to the Chiyoda Subway Line for Akasaka (2 minutes). The one way fare is 160 Yen.
Restaurants usually operate from 11:00 to 23:00. The TBS store is open from 11:00 to 21:00 on weekdays, and 11:00 to 20:00 on weekends and holidays.
12. SHIODOME
Shiodome is connected to Shimbashi Station on the JR Yamanote Line, JR Keihin-Tohoku Line and the Asakusa and Ginza Subway Lines as well as Shiodome Station on the Oedo Subway Line and the Yurikamome, an elevated train to Odaiba.
13. SHINAGAWA
Shinagawa Station is a major station on the JR Yamanote Line and the Tokaido Shinkansen. It is also served by the JR Keihin-Tohoku Line, JR Tokaido Main Line, JR Yokosuka Line and Keikyu Main Line.
From Tokyo Station:
10 minutes and 160 yen by JR Yamanote Line or JR Keihin-Tohoku Line.
From Shinjuku Station:
18 minutes and 190 yen by JR Yamanote Line.
OUTLYING AREAS
1. DISNEYLAND
Tokyo Disneyland is a five minute walk from JR Maihama Station. It can also be reached in a few steps from the Tokyo Disneyland Station along the Disney Resort Monorail.
By train
Direct, 15 minutes, 210 yen, departures every few minutes
Tokyo Station and Maihama Station are connected by frequent local and rapid trains along the JR Keiyo and JR Musashino Lines. The one way trip takes about 15 minutes, costs 210 yen and is fully covered by the Japan Rail Pass. Note that the JR Keiyo and JR Musashino Lines are about a ten minute walk from the other platforms at Tokyo Station.
Orientation
Tokyo Disney Resort is located next to JR Maihama Station in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture, just outside the metropolitan borders of Tokyo. The resort’s theme parks, hotels and other attractions are connected with each other and Maihama Station by the Disney Resort Line, a monorail service (250 yen per ride), which circles the resort every few minutes in a counter-clockwise direction. Staying guests of the resort’s three Disney Hotels receive complimentary monorail passes during their stay.
Alternatively, it is possible to walk from Maihama Station to Tokyo Disneyland, the Cirque du Soleil Theatre, the Ikspiari Shopping Mall, the Ambassador Hotel and the Disneyland Hotel, but Tokyo DisneySea, the Hotel MiraCosta and the Official Hotels are more conveniently accessed by monorail.
Free shuttle buses for guests staying at the Ambassador Hotel operate between the hotel and the two parks. Furthermore, there are free shuttle buses for guests of the resort’s Official Hotels, which connect the hotels with JR Maihama Station and the monorail’s Bayside Station.
Note that a considerable number of long-distance overnight buses between Tokyo and several cities across Japan, including Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka, also make a stop at Tokyo Disney Resort.
