The LAOX is the biggest electronic shop in town. The main shop across the street at subwaystation Akihabara offers 7 floors of electronics. Unfortunately not every article is that cheap as you would expect in Japan.

On the 7th floor there is an amazing collection of souvenirs. These are good priced and when you spend 10.000 yen, you get it dutyfree.

bic camera
One of the best places to visit in Tokyo for yr camera needs.
The store is some 7 floors tall- or more?

What to buy: Great options for camera purchase- esp digital cameras. A huge variety of other related electronic goods are also available, some on fairly good discount schemes.

Aso Bit City
This computer and electronics store is part of the huge Laox Store in Akihabara. Loads and loads of computers and TV games to your heart's content!

What to buy: Buying PS2 games here are cheaper than the normal electronics stores in Shinjuku. But, please be warned that the games are for Japanese consoles.

Mainly young men looking for the newest vidogames
In the Akihabara district every shop sells electronics, from cameras and computers to washing machines or lamps.

What to buy: Tom did buy a brandnew digital camera. A Canon D10. As we already have Canon conventional cameras we can use our lenses for this one as well.
It was a bit more than we expected and we payed with our creditcard. The creditcard company tought there was foul play and blocked the card....... So when we went to dinner with Yuichi that night our card was refused ! Luckely we had enough cash.
But you can also buy much inexpensive things like video or computergames.

Electronics on shop display along the Payment
Shopping in Japan, as in most other places, is an art form. In Tokyo, you're going to need a lot of cash to express yourself creatively, even though prices on some products have been dropping because of the current economic downturn. Check retail prices at the manufacturers' showrooms, then head for the discount stores to make your purchases.

What to buy: Electronics gadgests can be bought at reasonable prices.

What to pay: Less than in the UK for a nice Camera Lense.
