Mc Donalds: more expensive here burgers than in the USA. 2

Mc Donalds might be the world's largest burger chain (due to the enterprenurial abilities of founder Ray Croc) but is not the most tasty but they have lots of branches here competing with the local burger chain Mos Burgers and the burgers here are a tad more expensive than in the United States with less servings especially the french fries. this branch of Mc Donalds is located at the terminal one of the Narita International Airport. If you want to eat at budget meal while on a layover at the Narita airport then this is your best bet as the other japanese restaurants and international restaurants here are more expensive.

Favorite Dish: like in any Mc Donalds stores around the world, they also added local flavors and here in Mc Donald's Japan, the local flavors are the Mc Pork ( a pork hamburger with japanese sweet sauce) at $ 700 yen with drinks and the Teriyaki Burger at 840 yen with fries and drinks.

Favorite Dish: the burgers off course, well everyone knows the taste of a Mcdonalds. a big mac meal with regular fries and drinks costs 640 yen and a double Mac Burger with fries and drinks costs 670 yen. a large iced tea costs 260 yen and a large hot Coffee at Mc Cafe costs 260 yen.

McDonalds: American fast food

Quite frankly I can't remember stepping in to a McDonalds while I was in Tokyo. However, I did take the picture outside a McDonalds outlet. :-)
I guess for those who can't get the hang of eating sushi or sashimi, are tired of yakitori and teppanyaki, they can always fall back on McDonalds.

Favorite Dish: I like Fillet of Fish (for a lighter bite) and Big Macs. I also enjoy their french fries.
For those on a budget, best to try the normal cheese burger or beef burger. Grab two if you're very hungry as they are quite small, but tend to be quite good value for money.

McDonald's: Try the Ebisu Burger

I was walking around Roppongi my first night in Tokyo when I came upon the local McDonald's.
Some people tend to look down at McDonald's because it is your stereotypical American fast food joint, but this isn't the case in Japan. McDonald's Japan has one of the more unique menus.
It didn't just change the names of the normal menu but offered local items as well.
Ebisu Burger is a combination of fish and shrimp burger, which tastes better than fish and shrimp burgers by themselves.
There was also a local pie called Marron Pie. i'm not sure what marron is exactly, but it was sweet in flavor.
Also, there's the McTeri Burger or Teriyaki Burger -burger smothered with Teriyaki sauce.
Another thing that the Japanese improved on was customer service with their 'Hai!' every time you order something.

Favorite Dish: Hands down, the Ebisu Burger beats every kind of burger there is.

McDonald's: The tape worm is lovin it...

Well, McDonalds is mcDonalds, regardless of where you go. The food is pretty much the same. There are some odd ball items like the McTeriyaki, but all in all, after you've satisfied your tape worm, it's all the same.

On VT'er said that McDonalds was a cheap place for food....that person must of not been to too many places to eat since you can get far better meals for about the same price, if not less.

If you go to Japan and only eat burgers and fries then you've got issues...

Favorite Dish: Cheeseburger!! WOOO! Got Cheeseburger! YEAH!

Maku-Donarudo in Japan.
For thous who have the language problem, MacDolnald is your best choice. Before asking for direction, do not forgat to pronounce as 'Maku-donarudo' otherwise they will bring you to the police station.

I don'T have the Mac photo, so I use a 'looked Smilar' photo for temporary use.

Favorite Dish: In Japan, we have the `Deep Blue' manu, all make of seafood. 3 type of sources Barberque, Mustard and Curries taste.

You will see this in guidebooks as well, this area of town has tons of them everywhere, and its not such a bad thing. I know McDonald's gets a bad rep, but I did go here a few times while in Japan due to the cheap prices of their food compared to traditional food your supposed to eat when a tourist! :)
It overall saved me a few hundred dollars.

One tip for westerners, if you are ordering with a few other people you will rarely get all your food over the counter. They like to get people out of the line from waiting and you go into the sitdown section and they bring you the food. For those who don't speak the language everything is the restaurent is displayed in pictures with the yen prices for clearly displayed.

A typical McDonalds.
It is typical Mc donalds food. Now(May/2004) they are also not offering fish burgers that used to be quite good. :-( if you dont want to loose time and no bugdet. I do not reccommend going Mc. Donalds just go any am/pm or 7eleven and buy a sandwich or sushi or japanese chips. the proces are around 600Yen ~6$

Favorite Dish: If you must then chicken...

A year without McDonald's

Old Cliffie likes to boast that he spent a year in Tokyo and never went to McDonald's. The Golden Arches are so common in Japan - it is the country's biggest restaurant chain - that many Japanese believe it is a Japanese company and are quite surprised when they first go abroad and find McDonald's elsewhere. And if you are wondering how old Cliffie survived a year without a double burger with cheese and the works - well, sometimes he went to Wendy's.
