Wako
Ginza Wako is an up-market department store handling domestic and international accessories, jewelry and luxury items, and high-quality goods and services. The clock tower atop the building tells the time on the hour with the well-known Westminster Chimes. The Neo-Renaissance style architecture is indubitably one of the most famous landmarks in the high-end shopping area.
Matsuya
Matsuya is the top-selling department store in the Ginza shopping district. The store offers luxury brand fashion, a full range of household goods, and a selection of exclusive confectionery products. The food department on the basement floors is another feature of this leading store.
Nissay Theatre
Designed by the architect, Togo Murano, Nissay Theatre was founded to contribute to the arts and culture of Japan by providing and improving outstanding theatrical arts. Since its inception in 1963, the theatre has staged various programs of musicals and operas, both from Japan and abroad, while keeping the tickets affordable to the fans.
Hibiya Park
Built in 1903, Hibiya Park is Japan 's first Western-style park. The park has many attractive features including an outdoor concert venue, a public hall, open-air cafes, tennis courts and a library. On the weekend various events are held on the park premise. With its peaceful gardens, the park is a good place to stop and rest after walking around the shopping districts.
Nihonbashi
First constructed in 1603 by the order of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate, Nihonbashi bridge served as the starting point of major trading routes in Japan. The current Renaissance-style granite bridge was constructed in 1911. On the parapets stand statues of Lion and Qilin, a Chinese imaginary creature, which are symbols of prosperity and protection. The bridge was registered as an Important Cultural Property in 1999.
SONY Building
The Sony Building offers a vast selection of shops, restaurants and showrooms. At the Sony Showroom visitors can touch and try the latest Sony products, some even before their release. Other facilities include Plaza Ginza, an import shop handling home accessories, cosmetics and sweets. The space in front of the building becomes the site for various events around the year.
